Shampoo

Shampoo
cleanses the scalp and hair by lifting away oil, sweat, product buildup, and
environmental pollutants. Well-formulated shampoos use surfactants that
dissolve dirt without stripping the natural lipids that protect the cuticle,
so hair is left clean, balanced, and ready to absorb conditioner and
treatments.

Sulfate-free
shampoo is better for color-treated, curly, dry, or sensitive hair because it
cleanses gently without stripping natural oils. For very oily hair or heavy
styling-product users, a sulfate shampoo used occasionally can still be part
of a balanced routine.

Use a
coin-sized amount for short hair and up to a quarter-sized amount for long
hair. Emulsify in wet palms first, then apply primarily to the scalp — the
lather will cleanse the lengths as it rinses through, which protects ends
from being stripped.
